Entry Requirements

UTME

To qualify to be admitted into the programme by this mode, candidates must possess the West African School Certificate (WASC) or Senior Secondary School Certificate or the General Certificate of Education at ordinary level or their equivalent, with credit passes in at least five(5) subjects in not more than two sittings. One of these five subjects to be passed at credit level must be English Language and other arts subjects to be combined with education.

DIRECT ENTRY (DE)

To qualify for Direct Entry, candidates must have NCE or OND with at least merit pass in their art subjects’ combination plus Five (5) credits including English Language at O’level.

PHILOSOPHY

The fundamental concerns of the Arts Disciplines (Humanities) are with Man and his complex nature, especially his multifaceted relationships with the world around him and beyond. It is in this context that each Arts programme tries to investigate and explain those aspects of Man’s nature that particularly concerns or challenge him.

OBJECTIVES

  1. Demonstrate media literacies through the development of critical, analytical and argumentation skills and dependent research.
  2. Ensure that all programmes have in-built mechanisms through which national aspirations are affirmed. Such mechanisms should take cognizance of the following issues: socio-political developments, the economy of the society, the fact of our pluralistic society, and the need to forge a strong and united country
  3. Instil in them the spirit of self-reliance, self-pride, and self-actualization, and
  4. Equip them to contribute meaningfully towards the attainment of national goals and the satisfaction of national needs.
